FAQs

1. Is your tea organically grown?

The tea types in La.Kao are wild, ancient forest tea trees from the highest mountains in Northern Vietnam, so we can call them all pure natural tea.

2. How much caffeine is in a cup tea?

Caffeine naturally occurs in all tea: white, green, black & fermented. The caffeine content in tea will vary from plant to plant and from season to season. Caffeine and its associated compounds are the tea plant's natural defense against insects. Here are some factors that will affect the amount of caffeine in your cup of tea:

- Age of plant
- Type of plant
- Part of plant
- Elevation or area where the plant is grown
- Water temp
- Steep time
- Tea to water ratio
- Most notably, caffeine affects everyone's metabolism differently

We currently serve tea with very low caffeine, as the flavor of these wild and forest ancient teas is generally up to our standards.

3. Does your tea contain sugars?

While some of our teas may seem "sweet," this may be due to the rich content of the ancient tea tree. Our teas are generally free of calories and added sugar. Pure tea brewed on its own is a calorie-free beverage.

4. How long shelf life of tea?

We recommend consuming most of our teas for peak freshness within 1-2 years. Since they are made with dried, shelf-stable ingredients, they are also safe to drink long after that point.

5. How should I store my tea?

Keep them at temperatures below 25 degrees and humidity under 60%. You can use a sealed box with a rubber gasket or even the bag it came in (which we sold to you) - make sure it's sealed and stored at room temperature.

Tea is unique in that it needs to breathe a bit. Unlike coffee, it won't lose its aroma or go stale after roasting. Green tea, in particular, should be used quickly and stored carefully to maintain its fresh flavor. Black and white teas have stable flavors, but letting them "Breathe" can enhance and transform their taste in delightful ways. Please keep coffee and tea far from each other and light, air, and moisture.
